The Carlisle Isshinryu Karate Club is dedicated to providing quality
instruction to enable students to defend themselves in real life situations, and to foster the development of self discipline.
The club will communicate actively with the students and the public
to foster an awareness of the Isshinryu style of the Martial Arts as an
art form.
Martial arts instructor William Shank is currently a ninth level black
belt in Isshinryu Karate. Sensei Shank began studying the martial arts in 1970 and teaching in 1972. Sensei Shank has been
owner of and head instructor for the Carlisle Isshinryu Karate Club in Carlisle,
PA for the last 40 years. The Dojo has a current enrollment of approximately 50 students. We also have other schools in PA,
NJ, NY and VA
Sensei Shank received
his first level black belt from Rich Garnish (second level black belt in Isshinryu karate). He has received other dan levels
(Ni dan through Roku dan) from Sensei Harry Acklin (Shichi dan in the Isshinryu style). Sensei Shank has received his Nana
dan, Hachi dan and Ku dan from Master George Iberl (Ju dan).
