The Carlisle Isshinryu Karate Club is dedicated to providing quality
instruction to enable students to defend themselves in real life situations, and to foster the development of self discipline.
The club will communicate actively with the students and the public
to foster an awareness of the Isshinryu style of the Martial Arts as an
art form.

Shank is currently an (8th) Dan)
level black belt in Isshinryu Karate. Sensei Shank, began studying the martial arts in the early 70's and teaching in 1972.
Sensei Shank, has been owner and chief instructor for the Carlisle Isshinryu Karate Club in Carlisle, PA
for the last 37 years. Sensei Shank, also instructs basic karate and self defense two semesters a year at Dickinson
College in Carlisle.
Sensei Shank, received his first level black belt from Rich Garnish. He
received Ni dan (2nd) through Roku dan (6th) in Isshinryu karate. from Sensei Harry Acklin Shichi dan (7th) in the
Isshinryu style. Sensei Shank received his Shichi dan (7th) and current Level Hachi dan (8th)
from Grand Master George Iberl Kuu dan (9th) from Dillsburg, PA. and Grand Master Angi Uezu..
